THE alleged leader of a notorious robbery and kidnap for ransom group based in Misamis Occidental has finally been caught by the authorities in Cavite, the province’s police director Senior Supt. Archival Macala said yesterday. Police identified the suspect as Jojo Alferez who allegedly leads the crime syndicate responsible for a series of robbery, and kidnappings in the region.
According to Macala, Tangub City police director Supt. Reynaldo Alimanza led the police team that captured Alferez in Barangay Tanza, Cavite City, this week.
The police team arrested Alferez based on a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court of Misamis Occidental.
Alimanaza and his team came back from Cavite with the handcuffed Alferez at around 8 am yesterday morning.
“Even though the suspect hid as far as Luzon, he was still tracked down by our intelligence operatives,” Macala said. He said the Alferez group is now considered “neutralized” following its alleged leader’s arrest. (nitz arancon)
